Through the Sniper

Most of us have seen at least one movie where there is a sniper used to take out a person or animal. What makes a sniper the ideal choice for that activity?



The high powered nature? The ammunition? The scope?



The answer is all of it - the complete machine itself. The high power allows you to take out targets from a long distance. The ammunition provides the power. But the most important part may be the scope.



Without the scope you’re randomly firing and anything - making noise, giving away your location, and not accomplishing what you set out to. If you’re hunting, you scared your prey away. If you’re trying to take out an adversary, you alerted them.



But what if you had a perfectly dialed scope?



All you would have to do is aim the sniper at your target and pull the trigger. You would hit your target.



You can have the best content/advertisement (ammunition), the most high powered platform to deliver it (Meta, Google, etc..), but without having the right target audience (scope) you’re going to be shooting and missing. Throwing money away.



Identifying your target audience and ideal consumer are easy. Create an avatar.



An avatar is a fictional personality you create that embodies all the characteristics of a person that is most likely or ideal for your product or service. Once you create your avatar you can then interrogate it.



What problems is your avatar facing? What are their beliefs? What is their world view? How do they solve problems when they face them?



By asking these questions you can develop your marketing strategy around solving those problems and showing your ideal audience that you understand them.
